Hollis's Games

A portrait of the site author

Hello! I’m David Hollis, a game designer in Seattle focused mainly on tabletop experiences.

What’s the deal with this website’s design?
I’m a pretty big fan of engineering pads for notes, diagrams, and just generally thinking through problems. Every game I’ve ever designed has at some point been a bunch of notes and drawings on engineering paper. This site is designed to evoke those pages. It felt appropriate!

Games I've Designed

CTF

A micro-TCG about a friendly hacking competition

CTF is a micro-TCG: decks are nine cards each, and starter packs contain two of them, fully playable. Some of the 80 unique cards are only available in randomized 5-card boosters, which can be used to customize decks.

CTF is currently in development. A small print run will be available at PAX West 2025, and shortly after that a print and play version will be freely available.

Weft

A puzzly abstract tile-laying game about weaving colored lines

Weft is a game about drafting and placing hexagonal tiles, using colored strands that run across those tiles to make patterns. Shared scoring conditions change every game, and players will also collect personal goals throughout the game.

Weft supports 3-6 players and plays in about 45 minutes. A solo mode is in development. The game is currently unsigned and available for publication.
